“Salford has been accused of missing ‘a golden opportunity’ to save its heritage after the house where LS Lowry painted many of his industrial landscapes was sold – to become a family home.”
Personally, this place is close to my home and as a result of it being close to me its always been an
inspiring place for me. i agree with this artical and feel salford council are losing a massive opportunity to keep the fundamental Memory of L.S lowry alive.
The buyer, Has said people will be welcome to visit, when he has refurbished the house, and the council are in talks with the owners to replace to Plaque that brandished the outside of the house which stated Lowry had once lived there, as it had been stolen. However the council have stated its up to the new owners as it is now their property. This can be taken two ways, the first being positive as hes letting people enter his personal home to keep Lowrys memory going. However…
“Where else could I get a five-bedroom house for £150,000 for my family to live in?”
this was said by the new home ower, which suggests to me that hes more concerned with the cheap buying price then the fact an artist which had so much heritage placed in Salford lived there. which could be viewed as hes more enveloped in the
popularity surrounding the property.

it had been suggested in the past, that the property could have been bought, and restored as a small art school for children. which could benefit multiple individuals and families in the community, which i am a part of and it would have been nice to see.
