whilst producing work for this project, i dug myself into a small hole (as per usual) because i was producing sculptures that could be made into SFX makeup masks, but i hadn’t actually defined what my character was going to look like, which to be honest- i was avoiding doing, because during my last project, perfecting the characters is what bogged me down the most, so i took a different angle, and thought of the textures i wanted to use first, i knew i wanted it to be a gooey, slimy or tar like monster, because i can recreate that well to go on a mask. and i looked at the colours from my colour theory, and used a muted, almost sad colour scheme to create him.

i wanted the character which is based on bipolar disorder, to almost be ‘faceless’ as bipolar affects everybody slightly differently, and i didn’t want it to look scary, i wanted it to reflect the mental illness, so i wanted it too feel almost toxic.

as it grows, the features, its mouth, tail an arms become more prominent, because it wraps and it attaches itself to your body.
