we have had 2 seminars from ‘ In Practice’ illustrators both of which were helpful. the first was from Hatty Newman- an image maker with a huge range of high end clients, what was good and helpful for me was that this seminar was from an image maker that sculpts, she uses paper to create 3D objects, all the other seminars we have had have been digital artists so this really put into perspective that 3D image makers can also become really successful. she was helpful in explaining how she got to where she was today, and giving tips to us on how we can get into the industry. you can visit Hatty’s website here
the second seminar was with Chris Madden, Emma Reynolds and Barney Ibbotson (click on their names to see there works and website) these guys created a panel for us to ask questions, we asked many, and they really helped my realise that i can be an image maker, it seems possible and positive, they concluded by making a comment about portfolios, the said a more varied portfolio the better, you just have to organise it so it flows well enough. which made me feel positive about my own portfolio, and more so about Figs Crit, and realising this comment was from people in practice currently, so i trust what they are saying, and it immediately made me feel good about getting a good portfolio together.
